Overview of the Poker Online Casino Game

This type of poker game Texas Hold’em is a card game that can be played in lad based casinos as well as online casinos. Wherever you decide to play the game the same rules will apply. The game is well and truly focused on the betting as well as the number of different cards that are being played. Even though wherever you play the game and the poker rules are the same the only thing that is likely to change is the end goal. This depends on if you are playing a tournament or playing with cash.

A Texas Hold’em tournament is more or less the same as any other game but there will be a few added rules and a couple of extra twists. Texas Hold’em is usually played on a single table with up to ten players sat around it. The main goal of the game is to win as many chip as you can at one pot at a time.
The ways in which to win a pot is to have the best playing hand out of all of the players. Or another way is to have the other players to fold before the showdown occurs. The structure of the game is:

  • Set Up
  • Betting Rounds
  • Show Down

All of which are explained below.

The Set Up of the casino game poker

Once each player that is playing the game of poker is sitting around the table then the first thing each player needs to have is the chips. The next stage after this is to then decide which player on the table is going to start with the dealer button. This type of casino game is played with a rotating dealer. So this means that a player will act as the dealer for one of the hands. And then the role of the dealer is then passed on to the player to the left after one hand has been played.

To decide who is going to play the first dealer, each player is dealt one card face down then they turn it over and the player with the highest valued playing card is selected as the dealer. Aces are high valued cards when it comes to choosing the dealer. The player with the button is always noticed as the dealer for one hand. Only when the hand is complete the player with the dealers button will pass it on to their left and so on until the game is finished.

Putting out the Blinds in Poker

Once the dealer has been chosen you will then need to put out the blinds. There are two different types of blinds that can be used during the game which are a small blind and a big blind. The player that is directly next to the dealer will put out a small blind. The big blind is then placed by the player that is sat next to the player that produced the small blind.

The different sizes of blinds are important during the game as these will decide on the stakes of the game you are about to play. Ideally you would like players to buy in for no less than 100 times the size of the big blind that has been made earlier in the game.

If you would like to buy in for £20 then it would be a good idea to play with blinds 10p/20p. You will find that a lot of players will play 10p/25p.

How to Play Poker and the Betting Rounds

Right so this is how you would play poker in online casinos or land based casinos. The person that is dealing the cards will deal to the left of the player with the dealer button first moving around the table clockwise. You will be dealt one card at a time until every player has two cards. Once you have your two cards this is known as your ‘hole cards’.

A hand in Texas Hold’em includes a minimum of one betting round and a maximum of four betting rounds. A hand will usually end when each player but one has folded. Or it could also end when the final betting round is complete even if there is still multiple players still involved if this does happen then the player will then go into showdown.

Preflop

This is used when all of the players have received their hole cards and then you are in the preflop betting round.

Every player in the game has to look at their playing cards and choose what action they would like to take them in. It this type of poker game each player can only act one at a time.

The preflop betting round will start with the all the players to the left of the person that made the big blind. These players then have three options which are:

Call: The player has to match the same amount has the big blind

or

Fold: The player pays nothing into the pot and gets rid of their playing hand and then waits for the next deal to play the game again

Or

Raise: The player can raise the bet by doubling the current amount of the big blind. The player is able to raise depending on the betting style of the game being played.

When the player has then chosen their betting option the player to the left of them can then start to act and so on. Each player is given the exact same betting options.

The Flop

When the preflop betting round is finished then the flop is dealt. The flop is dealt simply by dealing the top card in the deck facedown on the betting table. That card then becomes the burn card. After this three other cards are dealt face up.

When all of these cards have been dealt to each player the post flop betting round then begins. There are rules to the post flop betting round which are the same as the preflop but with two exceptions; the first player that will need to act is the one with the hand to the left of the dealer and has the option to check or to bet. Because there has been no bet made calling is free. A bet on the flop is the same amount as the big blind. Therefore, a player has to put out 25p to be able to make a bet.

The Turn

Once the betting round of the flop is completed, the person playing the dealer will the deal one card face down along with another card that is faced up. This is also known as the burn or the turn. One the turn has been dealt the third betting round is then started.
The third betting round is the exact same as the flop betting round except there is one exception which is the size of the bet for this particular round. The final betting round is doubled which will mean to make a bet in this found it will cost you £50.

The River

If more than one player is left at the end of the round and have not folded one either the burn or the turn then the river is then dealt. The person dealing the river will deal it the same as the turn. This is with one card being dealt faced down followed by another card faced up.

This is the final street in a game of poker that can be dealt and no more cards after this will be dealt in this hand.

The Showdown

When the river betting round has been completed all the remaining players will then enter the showdown. When this happens the best hand in the game will win the pot. Below are the rules that players need to know about the showdown:

The first player to have dealt on the river is the first player to revieal their hand to the remaining players. But if any other of the players would like to show their hand first that is also ok.

If not bet on the river and all of the players checked then the player that is closest to the left of the dealer must show their hand first and then it will continue going clockwise around the table,

If a player is then holding a loosing hand then they have the option to either show their hand or muck their hand and concede in the winning pot.
